De oorsteker waar u elke dag naar zult grijpen. Gleam is een kleine ronde schijf — acht millimeter spiegelgepolijst oppervlak dat het licht terugkaatst — omrand door een fijne geborstelde rand die u pas van dichtbij opmerkt, zoals goede basics altijd één detail voor de drager bewaren.
Gemaakt voor het gelaagde oor: discreet genoeg om onder een ear cuff of een ringoorbel te zitten, helder genoeg om op zichzelf te staan, en prettig in een tweede of derde piercing waar iets groters zou drukken. Eén paar, twee afwerkingen — zilver voor de koele combinatie, goud voor de warme.

Ik zie dit model als interpunctie. Een zin van sieraden — cuff, ring, hanger — heeft nog steeds haar punt nodig, en een zuivere schijf licht aan de oorlel is precies dat. De geborstelde rand is belangrijk voor mij: een perfecte spiegel rondom zou machinaal aanvoelen, en de met de hand bewerkte rand houdt het menselijk.
