The Hera is a body piece first and a necklace second — multiple hand-knotted strands of faceted black onyx, each stone cut in a different shape, so the light breaks differently on every bead. Every strand is gathered at the front into a single pendant: a cluster of varied onyx shapes anchored by a large Swarovski crystal drop that throws sharp flashes against the dark stones.
Worn harness-style, the back strand slips over the head and wraps around the torso, so the piece moves with the body instead of sitting in one place. Every bead is hand-stitched and hand-knotted in our studio — no two strands fall the same way. A singular archival piece; no second will ever be made.
Artist's Note
“I'd wear the Hera when the outfit stays simple and the jewelry does the talking — a clean black slip dress or an open back, hair up, so the strands have room to move. The onyx is all black facets, so it drinks the light and throws it back in flashes — it loves bare skin and doesn't need anything layered with it. And don't forget the back — the strand down your spine is half the piece.”
