"I named them Fazzoletto because the first time I draped the mesh, it moved like a handkerchief caught in a breeze — soft, fluid, weightless. The hidden posts were the breakthrough: I wanted the chainmail to look like it was simply floating next to the ear, with no hardware breaking the illusion. Five inches (12.7 cm) gives the mesh room to pour, and at half an ounce per side, the scale is pure theater with none of the ache. I make them in both gold and silver because the mesh reads completely differently in each — warm glow versus cool moonlight."
